Testimonials

Ian Michie, Technical Account Manager for Marine Harvest at the time and now Salmon Quality Manager - Macrae Seafoods. “It was back in 2000 when the first stunning machine arrived from Seafood Innovations. Development of the stunning system required an extensive effort between the MH teams and Seafood Innovations. We were happy with our results from the early stunners, and in 2002 we won the RSPCA's Alastair Mews Award for Livestock Welfare. It is fantastic to see the stunners continually improving and evolving, and exceeding our early wishlist. The SI~5 Flow Through Automated system is a huge leap ahead of where we were when the award was won.

Mark Woods, Manager of Wester Ross Salmon Ltd. “The humane slaughter of our fish is a high priority for us and is critical to our process, and I am pleased to say that the SI~5 Stunner as operated by Wester Ross Salmon over the last 6 months has complied fully with the rigorous Freedom Foods standards set by the RSPCA. In addition the SI~5 Stunner has increased the overall efficiency of our harvesting squad and has been welcomed by the team as it reduces the risk of strain injuries to personnel and bruising to the fish. We also appreciate the technical backup that we have received to date.”

Peter Bender, Managing Director of Huon Aquaculture in Tasmania. “Huon Aquaculture purchased the SI~5 Automated Stunning system from Seafood Innovations in October 2003 and we have been operating on an automated delivery basis since that time. We harvest an average of 45 fish per minute in an automated stun/bleed system. We operate on a preventative maintenance basis and have found the SI~5 Stunners to be easily serviced and maintained and have also been SI-B bleeders since October 2006 with outstanding results.

Craig Selkirk, Manager for Marine Operations with Aquatas Ltd. in Tasmania. “The SI~5 Stunners are performing very well, both from an efficiency point of view, and also as far as our flesh quality results are concerned. Recently our Processing Plant Manager send a thank-you note to the farm (an unusual concept in fish farming I'm sure you'll agree) because he had just achieved record-breaking throughput and yield results for the smokehouse, which he put down to a combination of our good fish size and our low stress system of harvesting. I have no doubt that the SI~5 Stunners are making a major contribution to this. Our operators also like using the SI~5 Stunners and SI-B bleeders and our quality results have been excellent.

Doug Sawatsky, Chief Engineer for Oban Ventures in British Columbia. "Our company bought some of the first SI~5 Stunners after doing the hard yards with our original MT4s. We were initially impressed with the thought and consideration that had gone into the design of the SI~5, minimising complexity and maintenance, protecting the key components and developing a modular design that facilitates routine maintenance. These machines have now donemillions of fish per machine averaging approximately 5000 fish per day per machine.Overall, we have had an excellent run with the SI~5 Stunners. Throughout this time Seafood Innovations have maintained contact with us and provided anything we have needed to repair or service the machines with minimal delays.
