SI~5 Flow Through Fish Stunner

Our latest SI~5 M3 flow-through percussive stunner (patents pending) is a purpose-built machine designed and engineered from the water up, for fish slaughter in the marine environment.

Its flow-through design allows it to be used in conjunction with our SI~5 delivery system (patents pending) which attracts fish to the stunner inlet channels while the SI~5 trigger system allows the fish to activate the stunner and pass through the machine.

The SI~5 can also be set up with the SI~B bleeder to provide an automated stun-and-bleed harvest system. In the Automated setup, a few operators can control the fish pump as well as up to six SI~5 stunners and four SI~B bleeding machines, producing sustainable harvest rates up to 75 fish per minute.

As a manualy operated unit, the new SI~5 is much faster than other stunners due to its flow through setup. This means that a sudden surge of fish can now be handled with ease, and flow is maintained on the harvest line. Fish are therefore handled quickly and stress is reduced to an absolute minimum.

The SI~5 is also easy on the operator with the one-way flow system preventing fish from escaping or bypassing the stunner to the bleed table (which can cause injury), and only one action is needed to operate the stunner.

When fish farmers and processors inspect the SI~5 flow-through stunner, it quickly becomes apparent that these benefits make it an obvious choice when compared with earlier manual stunners.

Features

Corrosion and water resistant:
All components are stainless steel, high strength polymer, or annodised aluminium to eliminate electrolysis and corrosion, protective coatings and coverings have been applied to ensure a long service life in-spite of the corrosive marine environment..

High velocity stunning:
The SI~5 captive bolt has been designed to more effectively provide a consistent instantaneous and irreversible stun. This has been achieved by providing greater velocity and less momentum causing greater shock to the fish's brain without causing inefficient penetrative damage. The SI~5 is effective with a single hit.

Reliability:
The captive bolt has also been designed so that it will not slip down and returns to the same position each time thereby delivering all blows with equivalent force.

Size Range:
The size and species range has been extended to cover fish in the range 500g to 14.0kg.

Low maintenance and service costs:
Constructed for durability in the Marine Environment. All components are modular and can be replaced in minutes even in the field. Pneumatic controls are located in a purpose built protective casing.

Self-feeding delivery and flow through design:
The SI~5 delivery system (Patent Pending) draws fish to the stunner inlet channels while the SI~5 trigger system allows the fish to actuate the stunner and pass right through.
