Superior quality goes hand in hand with humane slaughter
There is abundant evidence in literature and in industry linking electronically managed percussive stunning with improved flesh quality and this has been a driving force behind industry adoption. When compared with some techniques such as CO 2 sedation, the difference is extremely obvious ( click here to see a comparison of different harvest methods ). Unlike asphyxiation or CO 2 sedation and electrocution, the fish are rendered insensible instantaneously and irrecoverably.
The percussive stunning method is recognized by all world authorities as the optimal method for humane slaughter, i.e. World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) The Royal Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), MAFF ( Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food), The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), The European Commission's Standing Committee Of The European Convention For The Protection Of Animals Kept For Farming Purposes , HSA ( Humane Slaughter Association), etc
